Your Excellency,
Could you please pass on to your government my great concern about the killing of minke whales.
It is impossible to kill large animals like whales humanely-about half the animals suffer excruciating pain before they die.
In modern times it is generally accepted that animals should die painlessly when killed by humans. This will never be the case with whales.
In 1997 the International Whaling Commission called on the government of Japan to stop issuing permits for scientific whaling.
I appeal to the Japanese government to implement the IWC resolution, and to only conduct research which does not harm the whales.
